What you need to know

At 7am on Thursday, 4th July, polling stations will open for registered voters to put their X on the ballot for the person or the party that they want to represent their constituency and country. There are 650 constituencies in the UK, 57 of which are in Scotland, 4 are in Fife.

Parliamentary seats have changed

The areas you vote in for Parliament (constituencies / seats) have new boundaries. This means some people might be voting in a slightly different area in the forthcoming election. Take Dunfermline, for example:

2019 Election Constituency

Dunfermline & West Fife

The boundaries of Dunfermline and West Fife have changed, and renamed Dunfermline and Dollar. If you live in West Fife, you may now be voting in the new Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy constituency.

New 2024 Election Constituency

Dunfermline & Dollar

The new Dunfermline & Dollar constituency consists mainly of the old Dunfermline & West Fife constituency and some of the population of Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath & Ochil and South Perthshire seats.
